MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – Two more jump sites have recently been added to the Badian City Canyoneering Adventure to make the outdoor activity even more exciting for first-time adventurers or even repeat offenders.
Shalimar Hofer Tamano, director of the Central Visayas Department of Tourism (DOT-7), said the “refreshing additions” were something to look forward to.
In addition, campers, hikers and canyoneers will also have the chance to commune with nature with the addition of a tree planting activity to the adventure trip as a way to also ensure the protection and rehabilitation of the environment.
“The Badian experience is nothing short of exhilarating. Canyoning is an exciting product in itself. Add to the equation a naturally redesigned landscape and new activities to enjoy and you have something worth looking forward to,” Tamano said in a statement.
Tamano recently had a try to find out the new elements that have been incorporated into Badian’s canyoning adventure.
“Canyoning, or canyoning, largely defines the tourism landscape of Badian and its neighboring municipality of Alegria, bringing a deluge of 300 daily guests to the two towns in southern Cebu before March 2020,” the DOT statement said. .
But adventure activities in Badian town have been suspended due to the pandemic.
Local government, guides and private stakeholders prepared for its reopening at the end of 2021, but plans had to be scrapped due to the destruction caused by Typhoon Odette which hit Cebu in December of the same year.
A massive clearing of storm debris from land and river routes lasted two months.
The mayor of Badian, Carmencita Lumain, announced the resumption of canyoning activities on February 21, 2022.

“Since its resumption in February, tourists from abroad and domestically have taken the step of these 10 to 60 foot gorges,” the DOT statement said.
Tamano said that with the resumption of canyoning activities, adventurers can also experience fresh green landscapes during their visit and try two new jump sites.
He said Typhoon Odette has reset the various sites along the canyoning route with new growth of various plants and tree species now visible in the area.
“Two new headlands have been identified and added to make a total of eight jumping spots offered to clients seeking thrills and adventure.”
The Badian canyoning adventure begins with a trek to Barangay Sulsogan.
Customers are encouraged to plant narra or tuga saplings on a LGU designated tree planting area along the route.
The first adventure jump takes place from an imposing promontory in Sulsogan and continues for 2.54 kilometers of thrills, passing through the picturesque Barangay Baljaan. This then leads to the Barangay Matutinao segment of the Kawasan River system.
Not only Lambug Beach, but also canyoning in Badian to reopen this February.
